Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Robber’s in 1934, the Masters Golf Tournament was originally called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament before a permanent name change five years later. The first and most exciting of golf's four majors, the Masters Golf Tournament is followed by the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship. The Masters Golf Tournament is scheduled to play during the first full week of April each year, and is the only major to always be held on the same course.
Many obscure records at the Masters Golf Tournament fascinate golf amateurs and experts alike. For example, no one in the history of the course has ever won the Par-3 Tournament during the practice rounds and gone on to win the Masters Tournament. This 9-hole course is traditionally held on Wednesday of Masters Week. Winning it has undoubtedly become the Masters Golf Tournament curse. Even Jack Nicklaus, winner of six green jackets, has never been able to pull it off and go on to win it all.
Due to this reluctance to win the Par-3 Contest, it has become somewhat of a relaxing, non-competitive scrimmage as opposed to a cutthroat event. Players can be found joking, laughing, and generally enjoying the lighthearted ambiance of the day – for this reason, Wednesday Masters tickets are some of the best for those with hopes of securing autographs from their favorite players.
Masters tickets are incredibly hard obtain because they are only issued to select patrons most of which have been on the Masters ticket list for many years. There is also a Masters ticket lottery for The Practice Rounds– but the odds of winning are comparable to winning a state lotto – some swear that winning is as likely as getting hit by lightning or abducted by aliens.
